Some final thoughts on the process.

 

Remember, possessions don't have to be unique or extremely valuable, just salable! Not every home is full of expensive antiques or collections of art or collectible treasures. We have the expertise and flexibility to handle both mansions and smaller homes because we are a total, turn-key operation. We do the labor, start to finish. We research, prep, price and display all items for sale and produce a full marketing program involving our web site, via the internet, private customer lists, newspaper ads and more.

 

On last day of sale process are adjusted to sell as much as possible by end of sale. Typically items under $100. are 50% off and items over $100. are discounted by 30%. Because all estate sales are different, we may adjust, to maximize sales, the last day discount to go to 50% off on anything left.

 

Every sale has items that, even with our best efforts, don't sell. Why? Too small, too large, wrong color, wrong style, or a hundred other reasons, which brings us to the final stage of the sale, what to do with all remaining items. Many people decide to donate balance of items to a reputable charity or church group. Others would like us to contact thrift stores and attempt to sell all items remaining. Depending on the circumstances we may offer to buy everything remaining in the house.

 

Many things in an estate sale don't belong there, and only distract from the presentation we strive for to maximize revenue. Things that are ripped/torn, broken, dirty, offensive, very used items etc. We need the right to, before the sale starts, dispose of items that we feel will be detrimental to the sale as a whole.

 

Final nitty-gritty.

 

In the estate/downsizing or moving sales, we act as fiduciaries, and, at all times, must, and do, act in the best interests of our clients. We do our best to provide an accounting and final payment within 10 days of sale end.

 

Depending on the property size and amount of goods to be sold, it may take as long as 3 weeks before we can schedule the sale. Everything needs to be cleaned, positioned and priced. The success of the sale depends on the items being readily accessible, clean and priced correctly.

 

We are setup to make sales using a variety of payment methods, including cash, credit and debit cards, Venmo, Zelle, Paypal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay and others. To assure accounting accuracy, every item sold is registered electronically through our Square POS system. We add 3% of the sale to credit card charges. Last thought, if time is of the essence, and disposing of the contents of a house has to be done quickly, we can make the heirs a cash offer and have the property cleaned out in less than a week.
